School is out and if you are like me you are itching to plan travel and explore new destinations. Palm Beach County is located about 3 hours from Fort Myers. This is an easy weekend getaway.

With the natural beauty of the Palm, this East Coast Florida beach town has a lot of family fun. Regardless of the season, there are year-round kid-friendly activities in Palm Beach County Florida if you know where to find them.

Things to do in Palm Beach Florida with kids

  1. Manatee Lagoon is a free facility that features engaging, hands-on exhibits to teach children and adults about the gentle sea cows. In the winter months, dozens of manatees congregate there! In the summer months, you can see in the clear water many different types of fish.

  2.  Loggerhead Marinelife Center is a free marine hospital dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of sea turtles. You’ll learn about types of sea turtles, their life cycle and how humans can help save them through exhibits and learning programs.

  3. Cool Beans Indoor Playground and Cafe is an indoor play environment for young children that also provides a relaxing, cozy spot for parents to enjoy coffee or a light lunch.

  4. South Florida Science Center and Aquarium is a large Hall of Discovery containing 100+ hands-on exhibits, a full dome digital planetarium, a 2,000 square foot early childhood education room, and more.

  5. Palm Beach Zoo is a perfect zoo for kids because its tropical canopy will help keep you cool as you enjoy seeing local wildlife like river otters, Florida panthers, gators and more exotic species, such as tigers.

  6. The Four Arts Children's Library's vast collection, special exhibits, story time, and botanical garden make this a great place to spend quiet time with the family.

  7. Lion Country Safari is a drive-through safari where you may spot more than 900 animals within the nine sections. You are given a CD to listen to as you drive your own vehicle through the safari space to help you pick out the different species.  After you 1.5 hour drive through, you can enjoy animal displays and encounters, animal feeding experiences, kid rides, and a large splash pad.

  8. Rapids Water Park has water fun that includes a 25,000-square-foot wave pool, a quarter-mile lazy river, and "Brain Drain," where adventure seekers enter a launch tube and wait for the bottom to drop out beneath them for a 300-foot tube slide.

  9. Lake Trail in Palm Beach provides 10 miles of flat, traffic-free cycling with postcard-like scenery along the Intracoastal Waterway.

  10. If your family enjoys snorkeling then head to the Blue Heron Bridge area at Phil Foster Park, where you’ll find an underwater snorkel trail loaded with octopus, spotted rays, and starfish.
