The Sanibel Public Library reported on June 26 that areas formerly used for technology, periodicals, as well as the Calusa Meeting Room, are being prepared for remodel.

"The other part of the Library is open to the public – providing space to read, materials to borrow, Children’s programs and more," the library's website says.

The renovations are a part of the "Your Library Reimagined" project, which was born in early 2015. A budget of $5.9 million is covered by library reserves, grants and gifts.

The interior redesign includes:

  • a user-centered service design with flexible
  • multi-purpose spaces for reading and research/collaboration
  • multiple technology access points
  • children’s storytime space
"We are positioning the Sanibel Public Library for the next decade of exemplary, innovative, and responsive library service," Your Library Reimagined's fact sheet (downloadable above) says.
