The Debut of the 'One Woman Show,' Possibly the Last for Local Artist Sissi Janku

Local artist Sissi Janku's paintings will be exhibited in the “Great Hall” of the Community House, 2173 Periwinkle Way, Sanibel, kicking off Feb. 7, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., through Feb. 28. The opening reception will take place on Feb. 15, from 4 to 7 p.m. On Feb. 21, the exhibit will be on display for the SanCap Art League annual show, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

This “One Woman Show” is composed of new inventory complimenting the artwork hung at Island Style Gallery in Periwinkle Place. On the event listing on the Community House website, Janku announced this may be her final exhibition on the island, as she will be moving to Hawaii to join her sisters and their extended families.

"Being close to family is important and the last year has taught us to appreciate that more than ever," she said. "Our nieces and nephews that live there now have six little ones ranging from 8 months to 6 years old. We want to be part of their lives while they are growing up. We will  miss our treasured friends on Sanibel Island and promise to return for our Sanibel fix often."
