Sanibel Vacations: 12 Years of Personal Touch and Honesty Toward Both Owners and Renters

Sanibel Vacations - 2330 Palm Ridge Road Suite 7, Sanibel is a boutique vacation rental firm offering an enhanced vacation experience on Sanibel and Captiva Islands, offering a professionally managed selection of private homes and premium condominiums with full vacation concierge services included. The business has been serving owners and renters who love Sanibel and Captiva Islands for almost 12 years.

We caught up with Brooke Altman, marketing director at Sanibel Vacations, who had some pleasantly surprising things to say about Sanibel Vacations' perseverance through the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the customer-first (both guest and owner) philosophy of the business.

Tell us about your business. When did you open? What was the main motivation for starting your business?

Sanibel Vacations has been operating for 11 years, almost 12 now! Rob and Charlie had a passion to bring a boutique company feel to the vacation rental industry here on Sanibel. 

What's something you wish people knew about your business?

Whether you’re an owner or a renter, we don’t ever hide fees (nor do we charge additional fees). We make sure every person we come in contact with feels like family, and while we continue to grow, our family environment stays the same. We truly love what we do!

What is a common question you get? Your answer to it?

From a renter's standpoint, “Can we get an early check-in?”

We do our best to get everyone checked in ASAP, but we never like to rush our housekeepers or inspectors. That's to ensure that we provide you with a safe, clean, and home-like rental experience. So, while we would love to guarantee you an early check-in, we can't promise it!

From an owner's standpoint, “What additional fees do you charge that we can't see?”

We don’t have any additional fees, minus a very small amount for the welcome gifts we provide for all of our check-ins!

What's the biggest compliment you've received about your business?

Definitely the personal touches we put into every rental property and guest interaction. We are like family here and want you to feel that from the moment you check in until the moment you check out. Someone is always available 24/7 for emergencies, as well.

Are you involved with or do you support any local nonprofits, community organizations, or causes?

We love our community here on Sanibel and in SWFL and we will always try and do our best to support in any way we can!

Do you have any upcoming events, specials, or new items/services that people should know about?

We are constantly adding new properties to our rental program and would love for you to follow us on Facebook and Instagram to stay in the loop! 

How has COVID-19 impacted your business? Have you rebounded? Did you do anything special given the circumstances?

While it was tough at first having to cancel and move hundreds of reservations, it has actually helped us. We are still booked at 100 percent capacity in the summer, which is practically unheard of! Everyone is finally able to travel and the hot weather doesn’t seem to be stopping anyone from coming to enjoy our beautiful island. We are truly grateful for everyone who has chosen to stay with us throughout COVID and now the summer when people are finally traveling again!
