J.N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge Visitor & Education Center is opening its WOW! Wildlife on Wheels mobile classroom to the public.

The WOW! mobile classroom was debuted on December 12, 2020 and has since been educating the five-county area on all things wildlife, including “water quality, the ecosystem, wildlife, and other topics that meet the Refuge’s mission.”

Between the volunteers, interns, and bilingual staff, the mobile classroom is able to reach those interested in learning more about Florida’s natural habitats through hands-on exhibits and activities right in the mobile classroom.

“Learning stations will interpret mangrove ecosystems, water quality, water conservation, pollution and plastic, animal scats and tracks, Florida’s native animals, and wildlife sounds. Staff will draw on knowledge gained in the classroom and design programs to complement Florida educational STEM requirements,” according to “Ding” Darling’s website.

The public is able to tour the mobile classroom for free at the Refuge on March 23 from 12-3 pm, March 24 from 12-3 pm, and March 25 from 9 am to 12 pm.
