Sanibel staples are returning to the island, one by one.

Blue Giraffe opened its new food truck on January 2nd in the parking lot of Periwinkle Place, just outside one of the popular restaurant's locations at 2075 Periwinkle Way.

"The beginning of the year is a good time to start new traditions," the restaurant wrote in a news release announcing the exciting addition.

The food truck features a "menu combining old favorites with new twists." Those stopping by can grab a Chicken Caesar Salad wrap on-the-go or sit down at the eating area and dig into Gringo Tacos.

The family-owned and operated restaurant first opened on Sanibel in 2016. The restaurant has become a favorite among locals and visitors alike for its expansive menu options for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

"As we work towards rebuilding our restaurants, we welcome the opportunity to provide delicious meals to our friends, neighbors and island residents in a familiar and friendly location," the release said.

The owners and staff are still working diligently to clean up both of their locations on Sanibel Island. A GoFundMe page has raised over $2,000 to support the restaurant chain's rebuilding efforts.
