Fort Myers is rich in history, and there’s no better way to find out all about it than taking a tour. Thomas Edison and Henry Ford often come to mind when discussing the history of Fort Myers; however, there are many other entrepreneurial types that helped make Fort Myers what it is today.

“During out River District History tours, we introduce them and discuss some of the very humorous shenanigans that went on while building Fort Myers over 100 years ago,” says tour owner Gina Taylor, who started the award-winning True Tours in 2010. This 90-minute walking tour brings the rich history of Fort Myers back to life.

“Downtown Fort Myers has the most historic structures still standing in all of SW Florida, making it unique,” adds Taylor, who started the torus to preserve the area’s history and offer another draw to the area to help with revitalization efforts.

During the Haunted History Tour, “tour guests will find out about possible paranormal activity in many of Fort Myers’ downtown historic structures,” states Taylor. This 90-minute walking tour is hauntingly unforgettable.

The 60-minute Stories of the Stones Cemetery Tour offers a stroll through burial grounds where guests can learn about the area’s most famous and infamous early residents.
