When it comes to shopping, these days, folks are looking for bargains! There are perhaps no better places to fresh food for less than at a local farmers market. Local Roots Farmers Markets makes it easy to shop for the freshest local foods you can find anywhere, with eight locations throughout SW Florida, and a ninth market scheduled to open soon.

“My business partner, Jean Baer, and I have been a vibrant part of Southwest Florida since 2008, offering fresh, local produce and handmade goods that connect the community to its roots,” explains founder Betsy Ventura. Indeed, many folks and families spend hours at the markets to enjoy the festive atmosphere, free entertainment, and fellowship. They want a chance to sample goods, engage with vendors, and watch cooking demonstrations. Plus, it’s fun for the whole family. Some of the markets allow leashed four-legged family members! (Check websites for locations and details.)

In addition to seasonal local fruits, vegetables, baked goods, seafood, honey, herbs, pickles, and olives, there are other great items, such as fresh flowers and native plants, cheese, artisan foods, condiments, salsas, and more (selections vary upon location). This time of year is a great time to pick up a homemade gift for that special someone, such as a jar of jam or jelly, a homemade candle, or a piece of jewelry!

“Farmers’ markets provide visitors and locals with the freshest seasonal flavors, support for local farmers and artisans, and a welcoming atmosphere that celebrates community spirit and sustainable living. Shopping at these markets means enjoying quality products while investing in the health and economy of the region,” adds Ventura.
