Garden Talk: Hibiscus

Discover how hibiscus creates a mesmerizing presentation in any area in our upcoming Garden Talk! One of the most sought-after garden perennials in Southwest Florida, Hibiscus has always been historically important within the gardens at Edison Ford. Mrs. Clara Ford loved her Hibiscus schizopetalus and Mrs. Mina Edison used Hibiscus rosa-sinensis as standards on her property and along McGregor Boulevard.

This class will give you the tools to understand their unique characteristics, so you have the best-looking Hibiscus! We will discuss the major species, but the focus is on the popular Hibiscus rosa-sinensis, and you will see why when we introduce our guest from the James Hendry Hibiscus Society – the oldest chapter of the American Hibiscus Society. A limited number of rare hibiscus will also be available for sale by the Society. Join us at the Banyan Café on Saturday Morning at 10:00 am.

No advance registration is required. Edison Ford members: $20; non-members: $30
