Director Stephen Sommers’ THE MUMMY RETURNS is not only the action-packed follow-up to his beloved 1999 original, but it also marks the big screen debut of one Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Nine years after condemning Imhotep (Arnold Vosloo) back to the underworld, Rick (Brendan Fraser) and Evelyn (Rachel Weisz) have settled down, had a quick-witted kid and are living their best adventurer lives. Unfortunately for them, a reincarnated version of Anck-su-namun (Patricia Velasquez) and a few more Imhotep-worshiping knuckleheads are hellbent on bringing the mummy back so that he can claim the unstoppable power of an ancient warlord, the Scorpion King (Johnson). Cue the desert-trotting adventure.
