There’s nothing like a tour to get an insider experience. In January, there’s a few in Southwest Florida you can enjoy! One is the 33rd Annual Tour de Cape bike ride held from January 19-21. The festivities will begin with a kick-off celebration at Rotary Park Environmental Center at 5505 Rose Garden Drive on Friday, January 19, from 4-7 p.m.

The Tour de Cape includes a 5K Run/Walk and a 3-mile Kids’ Bike Ride on Saturday, January 20. Bicyclists can choose from four different bike tours for the main event on Sunday, January 21—a 15, 30, 62, or 100-mile tour through the northwest and southwest regions of Cape Coral.

“This year, new features include food trucks at the Rotary Park kick-off celebration, with Sunset Yoga beginning at 6 p.m. during Friday night tour packet pickup,” says Kaitlyn Mullen, City of Cape Coral’s Senior Public Information Specialist.

Yoga participants should bring a yoga mat or towel. For more information, visit www.tourdecape.net.

Another tour is the free, behind-the-scenes tour of the Cape Coral Animal Shelter and Veterinary Clinic.  January’s event will be held on January 18th at 5:00 p.m., the third Thursday of the month. The one-hour (approximately) tour will allow guests to hear about the programs and services offered to the community and throughout the state. It will be followed up by a private Q&A session with CCAS management with an update on expansion plans.

“Yes, you will meet a few of our canine and feline residents!” says Executive Director Liz McCauley. Advanced registration is required. Tours are limited to the first 20 RSVPs. Children under 16 years must be accompanied by an adult. Register online at capecoralanimalshelter.com.

Private tours are available to organizations and civic groups at your convenience and can be scheduled by emailing [email protected]. Cape Coral Animal Shelter & Veterinary Clinic, 325 SW 2nd Avenue, Cape Coral, 239-573-2002.
