One of Cape Coral’s favorite family destinations, SunSplash Family Waterpark, recently opened, and thrill seekers are back at it again! Although the gutsiest ones of them head straight for the tallest and fastest slides, such as the Thunder Bump–a 264 feet long ride with several steep bumps to offer the feeling of going airborne, and X-Cellerator—a speed slide that drops adventurers down five stories of open chute at speeds up to 40 feet per second and 30 mph, many opt for something a bit easier to start with, such as Drop Slide that offers the feeling of free falling.

Bigger thrills aside, others head to calmer waters like the quarter-mile Main Stream River Tube Ride that slowly winds around the park. Or the Pirates Cove–perfect for the younger adventurers. This interactive water play structure includes slides, a hydro storm, blasters, gushers, and geysers–all in the name of fun. They also enjoy the Sand Dollar Walk, where the goal is to walk across the floating sand dollars and not fall in.

The Park also is an excellent place for groups such as corporate, school events, or celebrations like a birthday party, as they can accommodate groups from 30 to 3,000.

“We’ve enjoyed many birthday parties at SunSplash, and we can always count on the fun,” says Mary Wynter of North Fort Myers. Indeed, the parties are always fun as the young ones stay occupied on the exciting slides, and the adults often take it easy on the Main Stream River Tube Ride, aka The Lazy River.

April offers a few special events, including the Champion’s Day Spring Celebration, where SunSplash partners with the Special Olympics. The after-hours Sunsets @ SunSplash with food, DJ, and foam party takes place on April 27. May 5 is the first-ever Viva La Fiesta Cinco De Mayo party with Mariachi music, Cinco De Mayo games, a foam party and special themed food and cocktails.

Swim tops, such as rash guards required. Water shoes are suggested, as is suntan lotion. Lockers are available. Food and drinks are on the premises.  Frequent guests should check out the season passes. SunSplash Family Waterpark, 500 W Lake Kennedy Dr., Cape Coral, 239-574-0558, sunsplashwaterpark.com/
