Bonita Springs, FL – After months of rigorous training and preparation, four student-athletes from Oak Creek Charter School of Bonita Springs traveled to California this July to compete in the 2025 USA Taekwondo National Championships, returning home with an impressive haul of medals — including three national titles and several bronze finishes.

The Oak Creek team, led by Master Ashley Martin, proudly represented both their school and the larger FORZA Education Management community. The athletes — Phoenix Rackebrandt (14), Gatlan Wilkening (10), Ezra Manrique (9), and Annilynn Lewelling (8) — showcased their dedication, sportsmanship, and skill throughout the competition.

Phoenix Rackebrandt, a seasoned competitor and assistant coach, fought through a nine-player sparring division to claim Gold and the title of National Champion. He also earned a Bronze Medal in Board Breaking, highlighting his versatility and ability to excel under pressure.

Gatlan Wilkening battled his way through four tough sparring matches in a nine-athlete bracket to also earn Gold in sparring, making him a National Champion. He added a Bronze Medal in Board Breaking to his achievements, proving his strength in multiple disciplines.

Ezra Manrique claimed Gold in Board Breaking, earning his own National Champion title. In sparring, Ezra’s match ended in a tie, but the judges’ decision went to his opponent. Despite the outcome, his grace, determination, and positive attitude earned him admiration from coaches and peers.

The youngest of the group, Annilynn Lewelling, made her Nationals debut with determination and heart. She earned a Bronze Medal in Board Breaking — a remarkable accomplishment for her first national appearance.

Much of this success is credited to Master Ashley Martin — a fourth-degree black belt, accomplished national and international competitor, and Oak Creek’s 2025 Teacher of the Year. With over 20 years of martial arts experience, she has built a taekwondo program that blends athletic excellence with character development, instilling discipline, respect, and confidence in her students.

“Watching our students succeed on a national stage is incredibly rewarding,” said Leslie Stauss, Principal of Oak Creek Charter School. “Their achievements reflect their dedication, our school’s supportive community, and Master Martin’s exceptional guidance. We are so proud of them for representing Oak Creek with such determination and heart.”

“We’re beyond proud of what our students have accomplished at Nationals,” added Will Staros, Chief Operating Officer of FORZA Education Management. “Their victories showcase their hard work, their families’ support, and the inspiring mentorship of Master Martin. This is the kind of leadership and achievement FORZA aims to cultivate in all our schools.”

With Nationals now behind them, the Oak Creek ocelots return home stronger, prouder, and more motivated than ever — a testament to the power of resilience, discipline, and believing in oneself.
